Project Spotlight: Northgate Station Central Park Lighting
Location: Seattle, Washington
Ragni Product: Lampion Mega with Catenary System
Project Type: Public Park Lighting for Mixed-Use Development
Northgate Station Central Park in Seattle, Washington, is a renewed open space at the heart of the larger Northgate Station mixed-use development. Designed to serve as a vibrant gathering place for residents, commuters, and visitors, this 1.2-acre commons area blends green space, seating, and community amenities into an inviting urban destination.
Lighting Designed for Place and Interaction
To support this vision, Groupe Ragni North America was selected to provide the lighting solution for the park’s central commons area. The goal was to create a lighting concept that enhances safety and comfort while also reinforcing the park’s sense of identity and atmosphere.
Our Lampion Mega luminaires were paired with a custom catenary system to deliver a visually engaging and functional lighting design. The catenary system plays an important role in shaping the experience of the park after dark, defining space and creating a warm, welcoming environment that encourages social activity and community interaction.
The Lampion Mega fixtures provide high quality illumination that is both efficient and visually comfortable. The integrated catenary system allowed for flexible placement and created a memorable lighting presence without overpowering the park’s natural and architectural elements.
Supporting Urban Life and Community
Central Park is not just a green space. It is a key component of the Northgate Station development, which brings housing, retail, transit access, and public amenities together in a walkable, transit-oriented community. The lighting design needed to support a range of activities, from casual gatherings and evening strolls to events and community programming.
By working closely with the design team, Groupe Ragni North America helped create a lighting strategy that is both functional and expressive. The result is a well-lit commons area that enhances safety, extends usability into the evening hours, and contributes to the park’s role as a central social hub.
A Park That Shines Day and Night
The Lampion Mega and catenary lighting system deliver a thoughtful balance of performance and presence. Pathways are clearly defined, open spaces feel secure, and the overall ambiance supports the park’s identity as a welcoming public destination.
Groupe Ragni North America’s contribution to Northgate Station Central Park demonstrates how lighting can shape experience, support urban activity, and strengthen the sense of community in open public spaces.
